Shop UpdateI hope your week is going well and you are able to enjoy Spring. I sure like seeing all the trees and flowers that are blooming now. Makes me want to go home and plant bunches of stuff and watch it grow. Instead I'm growing a quilt for a new block of the month. This weekend the Columbus Metropolitan Quilters presents "Quilt Spectacular 2010, Sunrise...Sunset". It is being held at the Haimerl Center, 1421 Morse Rd., Cols., It is next to Ascension Lutheran Church, between Karl Rd and I-71. The hours are Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. Admission is $5.00 and parking is free. For more information go to www.cmquilter.org. We will have a booth there so if you go please stop by and say hello. Next Wednesday we leave for Paducah and the 26th Annual AQS Show. Each day I will post pictures of our trip on the Calico Cupboard page on Facebook. If you can't go with us at least you'll be able to see some of the things that are going on. Unfortunately, one of our ladies had to cancel so we now have a space available. If you, or someone you know is interested in going give me a call at 740-927-2636. We have two block of the month series that will be starting in May. We'll be using the 2005 shop hop book " Stars Across Ohio" to make the sampler quilt. There are three sessions monthly to choose from - the first Thursday from 5pm-8pm, the second Tuesday from 11am-2pm or the fourth Saturday from 12-3pm. Each month you attend class you will receive a packet of charm squares, a ticket for a drawing for a mystery box to be given at the end of the BOM and an entry for a silly door prize. The cost is $25 the first month and $10 each month after and includes the book, instruction on block construction and additional supplies if needed (foundation paper, Thangles, etc.). The second BOM is a gorgeous batik quilt called Back to Nature. The Tonga batiks are from Timeless Treasures and the pattern is from Wing and a Prayer. I'm working on the sample now. The BOM will start the middle of May. The cost is $21 per month and includes all fabric for the quilt top, binding and backing. We are taking sign-ups for both BOM's now. With the warm weather comes yard work and gardens. Have you thought about planting a quilt? Whether it's flowers or veggies plan it out in quilt blocks. Think how much more fun it will be watching your "quilt" grow. Well, it's time to go home and grow some more quilt blocks. Have a great week and an even greater weekend. See you soon, Sherry |
