News and Events

Hi Friends,

I find it hard to believe that half of 2010 is gone but the calendar doesn’t lie. Day by day, year by year it keeps plugging along oblivious to anything that is going on. It doesn’t care that I have a kazillion projects that aren’t finished or that the Quilt Spree is in 22 days and I’m not ready for it. Nope, it doesn’t care…but, I DO!!! “ARGH”!!! Ok, I feel better.

Are you enjoying the summer… Cooking on the grill, dipping in a pool, sitting in the yard with a glass of iced tea, getting ready for vacation or a big 4th of July celebration? I love all of those but I especially love to float around the pool on a Sunday afternoon reading a good book.

If you are doing a “staycation” this year here are some quilt related things going on that you might enjoy:

∙Quilt Spree starts on July 22 and goes through July31. Can’t make it during that time then create your own shop hop between Aug. 1 and Nov. 30. For more information call the shop at 740-927-2636 or go to www.myquiltspree.com.

∙The Dairy Barn in Athens, OH has a quilt show featuring antique Amish quilts from a private collection. We have a day trip planned for Sunday, Aug. 22. The cost is $ 35 per person and includes the bus trip, a stop at the Nelsonville Quilt Co. in Nelsonville, a light lunch, a small quilt show at the opera house, a tour of the opera house and entrance to the Dairy Barn. We will stop for dinner (on your own) and then return home. Space is limited.

∙Quilt Gathering 2010 Quilt Show and Expo  presented by the Pieceable Quilters Guild will be held at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, Zanesville, Ohio. In addition to quilts, wall hangings and miniatures there will be demonstrations and workshops. More than 25 vendors will be in the Marketplace and homemade soups and pies will be on the lunch menu. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18. Admission $3.

∙Appleseed Quilt Show Judged quilt show, workshop opportunities, guild boutique, vendor mall. Classes and lectures by Edyta Sitar and Wendy Butler Berns. Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information: www.appleseedquiltersguild.com

We’ve recently gotten some new fabrics from Clothworks, Benartex and P&B including some wide backings in white, cream, navy, and green. We’ll be getting more in the next few weeks so if you’re in the area stop in and see what’s new.

Hope you have a happy and safe 4th of July. (And 5th of July if you have the day off.) The shop will be closed on Monday July 5.

 See you soon,

Sherry
