Beginning Machine Quilting

Supplies: Bring the following to class
• Sewing machine in good working order (don’t forget that power cord)
• Darning foot or Free-Motion quilting foot (open or closed toe)
• (4) Fat Quarter (approx. 18” x 20”) quilt sandwiches (8 neutral or white fat quarters with 4
batting squares sandwich to make 4 sets. Place a quilter pin in each corner of each sandwich
to hold them together)
• 80/12 or 90/14 Machine quilting needles – Topstitch, Quilting, Microtex Sharp, or Universal • (2) colors 50 wt. cotton thread: One to contrast with your quilt sandwiches and one for
bobbin thread
• Snips or small scissors
• Fine point permanent marker (e.g. Sharpie) • Sketchbook or paper notebook and pencil • Recommended:
